1st Tyrolean wood museum
An opportunity in wood: In the 1st Tyrolean wood museum you can follow the history of the country. As a wood carver and decorative sculptor, working with the medium of wood, Hubert Salcher did not want its history to fall into oblivion.
To mark the 20-year anniversary of his wood carving workshop, in 1996 he realised a dream by opening the wood museum. It is the first of its kind in western Austria (there is another museum in Styria). In this wooden two-storey residential building, built by Hubert Salcher and in keeping with the style of these traditional buildings, there are around 2000 exhibits - ranging from woodworm to wooden nails, from the oldest folk song harp in Tyrol, to one of the oldest Christmas cribs. The exhibits include so many curio too.
